Life is Beautiful

The ultrasound of our baby felt like a miracle in itself. But to be able to share that with Ian and show him his little sibling was indeed a beautiful moment.

Well, Curious Ian is getting into all sorts of stuff now. One of his latest achievements has been to find, open, AND USE my wife’s lipstick out of her purse. I was surprised to find out that he had an idea of how to use it, as you can tell in the picture. But we’ll refrain from helping him refine his makeup skills.
We had a fun visit to Idlewild amusement park’s Halloboo! last weekend. It’s located along Lincoln Highway in western PA, which helps explain the second photo. You can find more photos on our Flickr page.
What an occasion to celebrate! Ian didn’t know what was going on, but Erica and I, along with friends and family, enjoyed throwing Ian his first birthday party. Ian’s aunt flew in for the party, Erica’s parents drove in from across the state, neighbors stopped by, my parents Skyped in, and Ian’s uncle (who gave him a cool “Whiz Kid” t-shirt) gave him a call to wish him “Happy Birthday”. Enjoy some photos from his birthday weekend…! (see below)
I’ll keep on rolling out some blog posts here to share photos and get ya’ll up to speed on what we’re up to. We enjoyed spending Easter with my in-laws as is our tradition, now with the addition of Ian. Since it was so early this year, it was a chilly weekend. So chilly, in fact, that there was a dusting of snow on Saturday. It didn’t affect us much, except that we had to keep Ian warm in his little Easter outfit (see below). I had a friend tell me about his rough experience trying to play guitar for his church’s outdoor sunrise service — fortunately our Easter celebration was in a warm sanctuary. We got too much candy (Ian needed some help with his) but it was a nice getaway and our first chance to congratulate Erica’s sister-in-law on the news that Ian will soon have a little cousin!
I haven’t posted much in a while, so I’ll try to get some updates here on the ol’ blog. First and foremost, Ian is now crawling and getting into everything his little hands can reach. He’s 8 1/2 months old and is very smiley, inquisitive, and active! He enjoyed spending Easter with his grandparents, so I’ll include a photo from that trip below.

I’m currently taking a short photography class (which is actually more about the act of photography than how to take photos) and one assignment was to take portrait photos with a classmate and then write about the experience. I brought along Ian and we went to the photo studio on campus for the shoot. It went very well and we ended up with some amazing photos, which I hope you will enjoy! Two of my favorites are below, and the rest can be found on my Flickr page.
